Prof. Emerita Antonia Trichopoulou
Antonia Trichopoulou MD/PhD, Member of the Academy of Athens, Supervisor of the Academy of Athens Bureau of Public Health Research and Education, Adjunct Professor Yale University, Professor emeritus of the University of Athens – School of Medicine. She has served as president of the Federation of the European Nutrition Societies and as chairperson or key member of numerous Greek, European Commission and World Health Organization Committees. She has received numerous honors and awards. In 2011, she received the Federation of European Nutrition Societies Award for her “outstanding nutritionist career”. Her scientific work focuses on public health and nutritional epidemiology, emphasizing health effects of the Mediterranean diet and traditional foods. Named in Thomson Reuters 2014 “World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” List and awarded as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics in 2018 and 2021, she is decorated with the Gold Cross of Honour for work in preventative medicine and nutrition by the President of the Greek Republic.
